My flatmate and I watched Enchanted in the big screen. Not in the cinema, of course, just in our television set. I call our TV "the big screen" because I usually watch movies by myself in my laptop. And that makes our TV 5x bigger than my lappy. Haha!
"The movie was so nice and it was so funny. I think Disney made it very well."
And that compliment came from a person who was once in her life stopped believing in fairy tales.
When SHE was a kid, she thought fairytales were for real. She thought "true love's kiss", "someday her prince will come" and "frog prince" really exist. Then, as she grows up, everything seems to be uneasy. She thought her first boyfriend was prince charming but soon turned out to be a frog. Then she had her second boyfriend. Then the Third. But all turned out to be frogs. Her prince charmings weren't real. THEY WERE ALL FROGS!!!
So she stopped searching for prince charming. She did the other way around. Maybe he's a frog.
Her fourth boyfriend was a frog. They lasted for a couple of years. Had their ups and downs but never gave up on each other easily. She thought he's the one. She thought he's prince charming and all she have to do is kiss him ( a true love's kiss) to make him a prince. But when she kissed him already, he turned out to be just like he is. A frog. He was never prince charming all through out the time they were together. Or maybe, there's no truth in the love they had. All were just lies.
She started to live a life without her so called fairytales. She became hardcore. Hard as a rock because she was afraid of being hurt again. She was afraid to believe in fairytales again. But as time goes by, she realized that being hardcore was not her. She was just pretending. And it was more difficult and painful for her. More difficult than being lied and betrayed by her prince charming. And more painful because it was she who was hurting her own self.
This movie reminds me that fairytales still do exist. Maybe there's no prince charming in a white horse now but there's a man who is real. A REAL MAN in a REAL WORLD. Makes sense, right?!
Here's a song from the movie.
Maybe that's how you know he's your love. :)
For me, fairytales still exist. You just need to believe. And if still there's no "happily ever after", maybe it's not yet THE END. :)
THANK YOU Disney for Enchanted. The movie was so nice and it was so funny. I think Disney made it very well. It reminds me of my "so-called fairytales." :) ;)
